Season 2 — Season of Blood

After Season 1's Patch 1.1.0 backlash, Blizzard delivered redemption. Season of Blood shipped October 17, 2023 alongside the D4 Steam launch, bringing Vampiric Powers, a fully-realized endgame boss ladder, and the biggest system rework to date. Peak Steam concurrency hit ~28,800 players in November, and the community declared D4 back on track.

Seasonal Mechanic — Vampiric Powers

22 vampiric powers unlocked through seasonal quests and the Blood Harvest overworld event. Powers upgraded to rank 3 with Potent Blood. Players equipped up to 5 powers, each requiring Pact Armor values to slot — Ferocity, Divinity, or Eternity pacts.

Season 2 launched the full endgame boss structure that persists today:

Patch 2.0 Systems Overhaul

Patch 1.2.0 reworked resistances, Paragon Glyphs, enemy damage/HP balance, and dramatically accelerated the leveling XP curve. Stronghold rewards were buffed. New uniques: Sanguine Brace, Black River, Blood Moon Breeches, Ring of the Ravenous.
