What is the Warlock in D2R?

The 8th playable class — the first new class added to Diablo II in 25 years. Released with the Reign of the Warlock expansion. Warlocks are dark scholars who bind demons with hellish magic. They wield Grimoires — spellbook off-hands no other class can use — and can Bind Demon to turn Super Unique monsters into permanent pets.

Is the Warlock still S-tier in Patch 3.2?

Yes. Patch 3.2 retuned Echoing Strike — its damage now combines additively (was multiplicative) and it no longer always hits, while weapon damage was increased. The net result keeps Echoing Strike the strongest Warlock build and firmly S-tier.

What's Levitation Mastery?

Warlock's signature passive that lets you wield a two-handed weapon and a Grimoire off-hand at the same time. Patch 3.2 restricts a 2H weapon to a Grimoire offhand only (no shield).

Leveling Path

Start with Miasma Bolt. Levels 6-12 add Sigil: Lethargy + Miasma Chain for AoE. At 12 take Echoing Strike or continue Chaos. 1 point in Levitation Mastery ASAP regardless. Grab Blade Warp mid-game for mobility + Blood Oath if Demon. Respec at Act 5 Normal into final build. Higher-tier synergies (Mirrored Blades / Apocalypse / Abyss) unlock in the late 20s and 30s. Use Spirit sword + Rhyme grimoire until Void/Ritual. Insight polearm merc handles mana.
